As Marxism / dialectical materialism is a scientific method, would it be possible to formalize it to gain a more objective way of deciding if a thesis/inference/deduction is true or false?I thought about it some time ago, and a comment from u/TheReimMinister sparked my interest in it again: "but I'd advise some caution towards accepting arguments that, for example, have trouble qualifying themselves using correct terminology"The first question I had after this sentence was, was there any effort made to make a collection of such correct marxist terminologies or schemes of arguments?I had some experience with Doug Walton's argumentation schemes (https://ift.tt/3ifKxbX) some years ago, and since then I thought that it must be possible to create a similar set of valid argumentation schemes in the context of marxism.Excuse me if this question seems absurd or is even antithetical to Marxism, I hope not. My profession is computer science and it is not that easy for me yet to grasp a lot of marxist concepts in every detail, and as I tend to think bottom-up, I would like to try to reconstruct some notions, like Lenin's derivation of the concept of imperialism, in a formal way, but have unfortunately failed miserably, as I'm clearly not there yet.I know, that the reality is complex, and it's not possible to create such an algorithm to decide an outcome for every input. I'm thinking more in a way of a formal toolbox, which could maybe help people to get into Marxist thought and provide a way of checking own theses? The literature of the last 150 years is so diverse, and it seems like a lifetime of work to get so far to be able to decide confidently what is valid and what can be dismissed, and it seems sometimes, like only a handful of people are really able to have such knowledge. And if Marxism is an objective scientific method, I guess it should be somehow possible to formalise such things a bit more, to shift the burden of trust from the authors of the arguments, to the creators of let's say a Marxist formal protocol of argumentation. So a related question would be, are there any resources, that collect Marxist arguments and present them in a more formal way? Or are there resources that teach you the way of adhering to the principles of dialectical materialism? Similar to the beginner lectures in studying philosophy, where you first have to learn how to logically create an argument?I hope I could portray my thoughts clearly and you can guide me in a helpful direction. via /r/communism https://ift.tt/32cAC1q
