Join a tiny communist org or move a big succdem org left?

I have the opportunity to either join the leadership of a relatively influential succdem org or one of several tiny but principled communist organizations. By joining the big succdem org, I'll be contributing to efforts that I don't necessarily agree with--an electoral focus with a short-term vision and an explicitly anti-communist outlook, but I'll have the opportunity to reshape the goals and direction of at least one chapter of that organization. Is this a form of opportunism? Or am I making a correct analysis of where the political energy exists right now and contributing in an effective way to the struggle *against* broader opportunism? On the other hand, joining a principled communist org means following what I believe to be an explicitly correct political line, but giving up the opportunity to actually have any real impact on the national stage--there's no guarantee that the organizations will even exist in the next few years, without even considering their actual relevance to political conditions or their long-term strategies. How would you make this choice? via /r/communism https://ift.tt/2FH1H3M
