Fall of the Soviet Union

How could the Soviet Union have survived. It seems like they still had the support of the people? Do you think dengist type reforms could have saved it. I’ve always found the blame on Kruschev and Gorbachev unsatisfactory and am curious about the deeper problems within the Soviet Union that allowed these people to gain power and then allowed them to slowly destroy it via /r/communism https://ift.tt/37oisdw
