I (21F pansexual) have a really really big crush on my friend (22F asexual lesbian) and we’ve been basically doing all of the relationship things without the label. Anyways, this evening we were texting and she mentioned that she needed more “big gay” energy in her life and that my “small gay” energy was disappointing. I kind of just brushed it off since we were just texting but I feel really hurt. I have always felt a little invalidated by the queer community for not being “fully gay” but it really hurts that she would say (and presumably believe) something like this. I guess I don’t really want to address it with her but I just needed to tell someone and get a bit of support from people who get it.
