As pansexuals, ya'll know how hard it is to make straight friends sometimes. As a butch-presenting pan, straight women tend to either assume I want them, or miss the fact that I like women, get WAY too personal about their sex lives as "gal pals", and feel lied to afterwards. Men tend to think I'm dtf, or their girlfriends feel suss about me talking to them. I spent all of high school gym forced to change in the bathroom because I "could be looking at the girls." Even though I really just wanted to change for gym. Lost many guy friends I didn't want to date due to jealous gf's. Tonight, I went on a double date. I dressed in men's clothes, am openly queer. Got into a great talk about shared interests with the date of my partner's friend. Things went well for everyone, and she gave me her number at the end to talk as friends. After a lifetime of marginization by both genders, it feels really great to have a straight woman want to be my friend. I'm partnered, she's partnered, it's all platonic. Just so damn happy to have my sexuality not get in the way of connecting with a rad person.
