Hey everyone. So I just wanted to make a post on here so I could try and get some perspective from this community as to whether or not I am Pansexual and what it means to all of you what to be Pan.
My problem is that I don't know whether to identify as Pan or Bi, or even something else entirely. When I first started to question my sexuality I considered myself Bisexual because I was attracted to both men and women. I didn't have much of an understanding of Transgender or Non-Binary people until I got a bit older. As of now I consider myself attracted to all genders and gender fluid people which I started to think might mean I was more Pansexual than Bisexual.
However, the one thing that is making me hesitant to identify as Pan is the definition of Pansexuality, which some people define as 'sexual, romantic or emotional attraction towards people regardless of their sex or gender identity'. In my opinion, when I'm attracted to someone, gender identity and more specifically gender expression play a large factor in determining my level of attraction to them so I don't think I'm attracted to people 'regardless' of their gender.
For example, I would say I'm more sexually attracted to women and trans women than men and trans men. When it comes to trans women, the more cis passing they are, they more I tend to be attracted to them. The same goes with trans men. To me, gender is very much linked to sexual attraction for me.
I was kind of hoping some of you could shed some light on this for me so I can try and identify with a specific term. Thanks.
