Can the US be saved?

this is more of a opinionated post, but i ask this because i find the people and culture of this country to be so lost within themselves, ignorant, and incredibly selfish. class consciousness at times seems entirely non-existent. aside from the already ingrained dogmatic resistance towards socialism and marxist ideals, can we rely on these people to push proletarian revolution forward or to even realize the need for such a thing? can we count on Americans to come together in such a way? i feel like the capitalist and individualist indoctrination has been practiced and performed here so well that sometimes it makes me feel hopeless when seeing it play in the ways of common people and even family and friends. these are the words of someone who has grown up here in the southern west coast via /r/communism https://ift.tt/2QC7dXI
