Hi! 21F here from the UK. So, I came out! Kind of....
One of my bestfriends identifies as being bisexual. We came out to eachother, completely unintentionally. Since then, she has made a few passing comments such as “we should just be together!” “we’d be a cute couple”, and things of the like. Whilst I’m not attracted to her and don’t want to ruin our friendship, I was recalling this story to my sister, and my mum happened to be in earshot. She asked very nonchalantly if I would date her, or any other girl for that matter. It took me a while to respond, I let it simmer for a while.
Me: “Mum, did you ask me if I would ever get with another woman?”
A pause...
Mum: “Yeah.”
Me: (thinking of how to word it)
Me: “Yeah I mean... I would date anyone. Not women especially, but I definitely would date a woman.”
Mum: “Oh, okay”
And that is that. Literally not a question or a cross word, everything is absolutely fine and normal. All in all, a very successful outcome 💗💛💙
