I was reading by some fellow comrades, MLs specifically, that said that Saddam was actually a revolutionary figure demonized by the west. They say he provided education, healthcare, schooling, etc.. to the country while building it against the grain of western imperialism. Considering that Stalin, Lenin, Castro and Mao are all also demonized I consider it a possibility that this is true. But I also hear from fellow comrades, such as Michael Parenti, that he was a CIA puppet installed in the Middle East who plundered the nation for himself. I also see here that his supposed “regime” attacked and tortured other communists. So I’m quite confused on the subject. What is to be believed and not believed? Was he truly a dictator or a revolution figure or perhaps something in between? I ask as a westerner who only has access to liberal propaganda. Thanks! via /r/communism https://ift.tt/35gNzt9
