So, i don't know if this happens to you, but i thought I would get my unsolicited advice because it works for me.

I was chatting with a friend one day. They asked about my sexuality. It was a queer friend. Anyways I told them, I was pansexual. They asked "what was that? Being attractive towards pans" (that joke weirdly never gets old). I said "No, it means it doesn't matter what gender my partners are". They followed it up with "Still don't get". I said "I care more about the software than the hardware". They finally got it. Hope this helps with conversations about pansexuality.

I've been doing some thinking

29f here. so iʻve always been more of the kind of person whoʻs like "live and let live." like whatever makes you happy, thatʻs fine by me. iʻve always said that iʻm straight but i go crazy over girls sometimes. iʻve known for a long time that iʻm bi, but i never really say it. (i donʻt really care if people know, itʻs not their business. if i want them to know, then they will find out.) anyway, last night i was talking with a friend and we were talking about fucking transexuals. my friend said that sheʻd get confused, but i thought about it, and i think iʻd be okayy with it. Given that the person is completely clean of STDs, it sounds like fun. A dick AND boobs? two of my favorite things.

I feel attacked 😢

Ok story time!

So I came into work today feeling pretty happy cause it's friday. I was minding my own business when my co-worker pulled me aside and told me another co-worker (one who works for the equality side of the business) doesnt like how I act with them (how I act is like a co-worker a nice friendly co worker) she never had any issues with me before but yesterday she asked me about the pride flag on my desk and pin on my lanyard, I explained them ya know me=Gay for everyone.

Now shes being funny with me, my co-worker (who's lovely) told me shes funny with all the LGBTQ people in the business, and she my co-worker that she thinks I was hitting on her and was going to convert her to the gay (her words🙄) but I'm in a relationship and she is aware or it.

Now I feel attacked and I haven't felt this shit about being Pansexual since secondly school. 😢

Today is Thanksgiving and I decided to come out of the pantry since the entire family would be present. I thought since they had always spoken bad about LGBTQ+ that they would not treat me very well. Well, I came out (with some help of my very suppprtive mother) and was met with accepting attitudes. I'm very thankful for that.

A coming out dilemma

I thought I was a lesbian for a few years, and I’ve told all my friends as such (not my family though, that’s a whole other can of worms). However, I recently met this guy and we just clicked, I guess. We have similar interests and he’s always super nice to me, and I know that I LIKE like him. It’s a pure middle school/highschool crush even though I’m literally a college freshman.

I’m fine with turning out pan, but I’m concerned in talking about it with my friends. They’re all LGBT+ and I’m worried that they’ll think less of me if I tell them I realized I’m actually pan, like I’m lesser because I’m in love with someone of the opposite gender despite asserting that I have no interest in them. I’m scared of what they’ll think of me as a pan person w a crush on a guy. What should I do?

Need some help on information about communism and socialism during thanksgiving with the in-laws

I hope this is a good place to post this I’m not really sure but I could use some help from some comrades. Long story short I was at thanksgiving dinner with the in-laws. Why do people come out as gay, bi, pan, whatever.

This is something I've never understood. I myself am only attracted romantically to women. But I also love trans women, I crossdress and 👉👌 with myself or men.

But gay people always have a coming out party so to say. They have to announce to everyone, IM GAY.

Straight people dont do this. They dont have special meetings and like, I have an announcement to make. IM STRAIGHT. Hooray. I too have come out to a few people but I dont tell them what I am. I just tell them what I like. I dont want a label as gay, straight, bi, pan.

My professor was assistant to the man that came up with the statistic that one million Koreans died in the Arduous March

I’m a “political science” major about to graduate from an American public university. This semester I took a class on politics in Asia and today we started Korea. To my surprise, my professor told the class that he was the assistant to Andrew Natsios, the man that came up with the statistic that one million Koreans had died in the DPRK from the famine in the 90s. It turns out that Natsios was dedicated to bringing the number of total dead to one million because he figured anything less would go unnoticed. He wanted his research to be front page material on the New York Times etc. My professor said that in order to come up with such a number, Natsios found a statistic from some monks in a village in the DPRK where 20% of the village had died as a result of the famine. Natsios of course completely trusts this source and doesn't question whether the monks had any training in demography whatsoever. Natsios goes on to multiply that percentage by the number of villages/towns in the DPRK to come up with a large enough number that could be added to his other statistics to bring the total up to one million dead.The reason my professor even brought this up was because he remembers very vividly the day Natsios was finally able to justify claiming that one million had died because he was there. My professor said Natsios was an ideologically driven anti-communist dedicated to arguing that communism causes famines. When Natsios played with the numbers enough to finally reach one million, he saw Natsios gleefully jump for joy in excitement. Natsios went around the office exclaiming that he had done it! He had proven that one million had died as a result of communism in the DPRK!Just imagine being this excited to find out that one million had died in a famine. As I heard this, I immediately recognized how similar it sounded to the other famines we hear about. A disaster happens that results in vast numbers of people dyeing but instead of empathizing with the dead, the famine is politicized and used as a statistic for anti-communists. Let’s be clear here, these people don’t give a shit about those who died. So i just recently came out as bi to my friends and one of them seemed cool with it but the other two didn't. Now i realized i am pan and i told the one friend and she was very supportive but im afraid to tell the other two i think they might exploded if i do tell them.I haven't came out to anyone else because the kids at my school are veeeryy homophobic and they wouldn't understand. And they ask me why im not with someone and that is the reason if they found out i was pan some kids would probably beat me because there like that. Why do I even try...

Sorry for the rant, but I really had a tiresome conversation with one of my coworkers yesterday.

For a little context, I'm a 40+ male and I've been married to my wife for a little over ten years. We have a 7 year old daughter. So anyway, I don't know how the conversation got to there, but at some point we started talking about relationships. They coworker is not particularly biased or a bigot, but is a little conservative and refers to the LGBTQ+ as 'them'. And after the conversation we had, I'm also pretty sure he only knows what the first two letters stand for.

Anyway, I told him I don't understand the whole labelling. I mean I get it logically, but is doesn't really compute in my head. I love whomever I love. And I'm in love with my wife. But I'd been in love with her regardless of her gender. I'll admit it made the whole kid situation a little easier though. So that was followed by a whole lot of questions and a growing confusion. I think I've only had relationships and sex with straight or bi women, but only because I never considered the option of going after a guy. I've had total crushes on men, but didn't follow up on those. All of them seemed to be straight. Also I was into women as well which made it confusing, so I just brushed the man-crushes off as part of 'friendship'. And with my more conservative upbringing regarding gender roles, I just let it be. But I'm perfectly fine loving whatever person.

The more we spoke about it, the blanker his stare got. Today he's being awkward... *sigh* I sometimes wonder why I even bother explaining the way I am... *shrugs*

Green Socialism: Stalin's Great Plan for the Transformation of Nature and its abandonment by Khrushchev

This year marks the 70th anniversary of one of the most large-scale projects of the world history - the so-called Great Plan of Nature Transformation, called "Stalin's Plan", because its development and approval at the legislative level (October 20, 1948) were initiated and personally controlled by I.V. Stalin [Bushinsky, p.9]. The plan was intended to solve several problems at once: the tasks of the immediate future were the rapid restoration of the national economy after the devastation caused by German Nazism; the next set of tasks covered the general improvement of the culture of land use in order to ensure the food security of the population in the long run; and finally the third set of tasks included the further evolution of large socio – technical systems through the acquisition of innovative technologies of environmental management, and therefore-a new civilizational leap of Soviet society.Background behind the creation of the Great plan for the transformation of natureDirect material damage from the war and temporary occupation of part of the territory of the USSR by the enemy is estimated at 678 billion rubles (in pre-war prices), which is close to the total value of all Soviet investments for the first four five-year plans [Chuntulov, p.261].Hitlerites and their accomplices completely or partially destroyed 1710 cities and over 70 thousand villages and villages, liquidated 31,850 enterprises, plundered 98 thousand collective farms, 1876 state farms, 2890 MTS, destroyed 65 thousand km of railways from 4100 railway stations, blew up 13 thousand bridges, caused other destruction. The agricultural problem had to be solved against the background of the rapidly deteriorating international situation: as part of the policy of "containment of the USSR", according to the Truman Doctrine (March 12, 1947) - an American echo of the Fulton speech of W. Churchill (March 5, 1946) - the US government in March 1948 introduced export licenses that prohibited the export of most American goods to the Soviet Union [Katasonov, p. 32].Under these conditions, Stalin returned to the project of integrated agroforestry in the steppe zone, the idea of which was first proposed in 1924 [korchemkina, p. 31]. Similar conclusions were reached independently by climatologist A.I. Voyeikov, geologist V.A. Obruchev, chemist and economist D.I. Mendeleev [Kovda, p.16]. The title is self explanatory. I am asking because the party I'm a member of - the Communist Party of Britain - and it's youth wing the Youth Communist League (of which I'm also a member) recently announced that their goal first and foremost is to try and have a Labour government in the next general election.Of course, I view Labour as by far the best party to vote in, even if they aren't aligned with my views totally, and the recent move leftward in Labour is certainly promising, but I just don't know if we should be actively supporting an (albeit much more left wing) liberal party.And in fact, on the last part of it being a "liberal party", is it even a liberal party anymore? I think there is a paradigm to industrialization and modernization that is inherently bourgeois . How can we build a communist society if everybody is keeping up with the Joneses ? My husband makes $240,000 per year and I don't know how to feel about it.

Let's get this straight. I've been very far left my entire life and I have considered myself a communist for most of my life. My husband joined the military 4 years ago and was able to get a very good MOS (job) in the military and it furthered his career. We both used to work minimum wage, but now he works as a contractor and is making almost a quarter of a million a year after taxes. I never knew how frustrating taxes were until I recently got a mid level position myself making about $40k a year and giving almost a quarter of that into taxes. After qetting my own career and seeing my husband accelerate in his, I find myself disagreeing more and more with communist doctrine, speakers, and think pieces. Am I a bad person? I thought it was interesting how the best chess player in the world came from it and I was disappointed to find out he had completely negative feelings about it. Why Are Students Being Caught in the Crossfire of University Strikes?

The UK university strikes are bringing to mind the following quote from Mark Fisher in Capitalist Realism:"For instance, in the case of teachers and lecturers, the tactic of strikes (or even of marking bans) should be abandoned, because they only hurt students and members (at the college where I used to work, one-day strikes were pretty much welcomed by management because they saved on the wage bill whilst causing negligible disruption to the college). What is needed is the strategic withdrawal of forms of labor which will only be noticed by management: all of the machineries of self-surveillance that have no effect whatsoever on the delivery of education, but which managerialism could not exist without."Rather than total strikes why not boycott the managerial work, which seems to be the biggest thing that academics complain about with relation to how overworked they are, and instead devote the time to delivering the best possible education for their students? ML or MLM? Having trouble reaching a conclusion. LONG POST

I cant decide between Marxism Leninism or Marxism Leninism Maoism. I have been researching this for some time and I do know the difference between MZT and MLM. I know about the PCP and Chairman Gonzalo and have read most of the fundamental documents and that is the Maoism that I am referring to. What I cant decide is whether or not Maoism is a new development or simply Marxism Leninism. For exampleThe Mass Line. I think the mass line is a really useful concept and I love the way Mao lays it out but is it anything new? Sure he went into more detail but isnt it common sense? All communist parties that have come to power have used this method, and it was being used long before Mao talked about it. But to contradict myself a lot of ML parties dont use this concept very well, sometimes not at all in which case they become irrelevant. I can see how making the mass line a requirement of a party instead of just an assumption is definitely helpful, but does that make it different from ML, and couldnt that still just be ML-MZT?Protracted Peoples War. I like this strategy. It has shown time and time objectively through practice to be extremely difficult for Bourgeois governments to combat even in places with "free" elections. The problem I have is with its universality in Imperialist countries. For example, the KKE is a pretty big party that involves with mostly legal work. If they were to start PPW in Greece now, would it really be an effective strategy, or would it get them all killed? What if the situation is a revolutionary one? Why would PPW be better in an industrial country like theirs then simple Leninist insurrection? Something else that bothers me is why Peoples war in Peru, India, Nepal and Philippines have gone through periods of great success and then almost absolute defeat (with PPW its always almost)? The same happened with the Peoples war in China too and it takes decades to recover fully, why is this the path of most well known examples of peoples war?On Contradiction. This part I dont get at all just from ignorance. Apparently Mao advanced dialectics somehow with some new principles on contradiction, like the universality of contradiction and one divides into two. I dont see how this is an advancement simply because I havent read enough on dialectics in general from Engels and Lenin so it seems to me like the same stuff that they were saying. If someone could explain this to me that would be great because most explanations of how Mao developed dialectics just says he talks about universality and one divides into two, like that is supposed to explain anything. By the way I have read on contradiction and I understand the concepts of universality and one divides into two, I just dont understand their relevance, or even why they effect practical work in any substantial way. I am sure I am missing something here.Critique of the revisionists in the USSR. I love this and agree completely. I think it was completely valid to criticize Stalin for overlooking that internal contradictions still existed in the USSR and I see the relation to mechanical materialism. Where I get confused, is that Lenin said class struggle gets stronger under Socialism too, and Im pretty sure Stalin did early on too but I cant remember where. Is this really a Maoist concept or is this just Leninism, that Stalin misinterpreted?Its always right to rebel and the Cultural Revolution. This I dont really need much convincing on, the Cultural Revolution was obviously something new that is a theoretical development. I doubt Lenin and Stalin would ever consider that acceptable but it has shown through practice to be necessary and correct and so therefore it is a development. The question here comes down to does this warrant a whole title, and whole new communist parties? I mean Im not really decided on whether this is an issue worth splitting over although I am very tempted to say yes. I think most ML parties would agree on this though and there isnt really a need to call yourself Maoist over this one thing, although perhaps with the addition of the other concepts maybe, maybe.There are other smaller things that Ill just cover in one paragraph like the two line struggle, which is correct but I dont see how its a development on Marxism Leninism. New democracy, which is obviously not universal and therefore doesnt warrant a new ism. Bureaucrat Capitalism, to be honest I dont see how this is any different from Imperialism, its just Imperialism but looked at from the other angle, its nothing new, although perhaps I am misunderstanding the concept.To conclude at the moment I see lots of useful and correct things that come from Mao/Maoism, that ML parties do sometimes get away without following, but I dont see how they are qualitatively different from ML. And if they are a new development, are they worth splitting or forming a new party for, or even just reconstituting an old party (this depends on what party though). I am genuinely grateful to anyone who answers or contributes to even one of these questions for me. I would also be happy to hear from MLs on what they think of this.
