pet peeve with pansexual characters

(this is a really small dumb personal problem so if you don't agree i totally get it haha)

when the explanation given for why a fictional character is pansexual (glazing over the fact that someone's sexuality doesn't need an explanation for a sec) is just "they don't care they'll fuck anybody" it bothers me a little because it feels kinda similar to the "bisexuals are more likely to cheat" stereotype

plus i think being pansexual has more nuance and deserves more respect but again that's probably just me

Toxic Family

I haven’t come out to my family, they have very conservative views and I know it wouldn’t be a good choice for my mental/ emotional health.

I did hope however, that one day I might be able to.

My mother brought up the debate from last night while having dinner at my place. Long story short, she said some very fkd up stuff that was homophobic and transphobic. I lost my temper and ended up crying really hard during the argument.

I knew better than to engage, but it’s just so painful and terrifying to realize in that moment, my mother’s love is conditional. That the things she says and truly believes about the gay community (and by extension me) are never going to change.

I hate the idea of spending the rest of my life hiding that I’m pans, but being disowned by my only parent feels just as impossible.

Hunger For Death/Fuel For Success (H4D/F4S)

“I hang my head low in defeat, while the evil watches me weep. I strive to sleep, but the voices keep me weak. I want to chase dreams, but the world doesn’t share belief. All they do is doubt me, while I keep my silent pain hidden deep.”

The whole world never believed in me. They thought I was nothing but a joke. I told them that I want to be a writer, all they responded with was “go get a real job, writing is for kids.” When I was abused and molested as a kid, everyone said “you’re just lying to get attention.” They all think I use my disabilities as a crutch and that I’ll never make it. And when I came out as pansexual, I got disowned by many friends and family members.

BUT WHO THE FUCK ARE THEY?!? Everyone doubts you and your dreams until you succeed at them, and so many people get disowned because of who they love. It’s fucked up to say the least. And it sickens me that “family” can become strangers in an instant.

But I won’t let that bring me down. I used to let it all affect me, I used to have a hunger for death. I wanted to die every fucking day. People hated me for having dreams and being gay, now I’m stronger than my demons. I’ll let the doubters and haters and homophobes be the fuel to my future success. It’s time to rewind the tape, let’s rewrite the poem to what I really want it to say.

“I hang my head high as I watch the evil retreat. I don’t believe in sleep, success is my biggest dream. I no longer care if the world doesn’t believe, I’ll make sure that when it’s my time to leave, my pain will cease and my success will leave an everlasting mark for the world to see.”

Unexpected, To Say The Least

So, update on my shoes/coming out status. So I was talking to my grandma, and I told her I was painting shoes (not what they were for though), and I told her I was painting outside. She told my little brother (who was there btw) to stay with me outside while I finished painting the shoe (I've almost finished one of them!). So my little brother is looking at the shoe and says, why did you write pan on the back (because on the back of the shoe, I drew a little flag with PAN written on it). So, I explained to him that I was pansexual, and that my brother was the first to know. I told him that it was a surprise for mom and dad so he couldn't tell them. He said he would (I trust him bc he keeps secrets for me all the time), and we went on with my day. A little unexpected, but made me happy that a 6 year old was accepting of me. (He also agreed that gender shouldn't matter, and that personality is what matters!🏳️‍🌈)

I need help building a safety net for coming out.

I have known I wasn’t straight for a long time and have been in the closet. However I am just about to officially start dating a guy (I identify as male) and I really need to make a plan for coming out.

I had lived on my own for almost 3 years, but I had to move back in after breaking up with my ex and the corona virus. I have a group of people who are agreeing to roommate with me, but the last person’s lease expires in February, so February is the soonest I can live on my own again.

My parents are quite homophobic (they supported Kim Davis lol) and are fundamentalist Christians that being LGBT condemns you to hell. They are typically sweet enough, but I need to make a plan to come out safely and have options and resources in case they freak and kick me out.

I have been trying to find resources today, and I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar place and found good resources. Like is there a place with people I can talk to that will help me put together a plan?

I don't know if it's okay for me to rant but here we go

I am pansexual. I was very happy to find out my sexuality years ago and my family supports me too. But these past few weeks I felt and I still do feel sad. Maybe it's just me being a sensitive baby but I saw some anti-pan comments and I'm just questioning myself. "Am I valid?" Some people think pansexuality erases bisexuality which makes me sad too. Bisexual people are valid and they always have been. I hate when someone thinks pansexuality is something about liking transgender people. I truly hate it. Transgender people are just people. If they identify as he or she or any other pronouncs that's what they are. They are not 'trans' they are themselves (but if someone calls themselves trans and they are proud then that can be the case too). And bisexual people can and do include non-binary people. That's one of the many misunderstandings too. But I'm just second-guessing my sexuality because of the hate and I cried a lot because of it. I wanna be happy and proud to be pansexual but the hate and pressure I am experiencing is just hurting me. I can now see why people can mistake pansexuality for bisexuality. But there is the difference too. But does that difference matter anymore? I'm sorry for ranting but I just needed to get this out of my chest. So here are my questions which may sound dumb.

Is pansexuality even needed as a sexuality?

Am I valid?

Will this hate at least die out a little?

I’m a pan female who only recently decided that the lesbian label wasn’t for me and that I’m more open to love from every type of person. I’d put myself in the lesbian box (pun intended) in high school and was too scared to back out of it until recently after only dating women for the last 11 years.

My question is this: why are guys so much more brazen when they hit on me? I’ll have like ten dudes messaging me immediately after posting a picture somewhere and a bunch of shy gals and non-binary pals lurking around my stuff without ever saying anything but liking shit and stalking my Instagram. I always have to reach out to the gals and non-binary pals if I want to date them or hit on them or flirt or whatever.

Can someone explain to me how the Uyghur camps are not just racial profiling like in the United States?

Basically every ML I've spoken to will tell me that the camps do exist, and that there are millions or hundreds of thousands of Uyghurs in them, but will argue that they are justified and don't have as bad conditions as they are made out to be in the western media. the difference between bi and pan (imo)

so recently there's been alot of discussion about the difference between being bisexual and being pansexual, and i'd like to add my view on it. bisexual- is attracted to more than one gender; pansexual- "gender blind" is attracted to someone regardless of gender; demisexual- attracted to all genders. the reason i added demisexual is because people tend to get demisexual and pansexual mixed up. i am personally pan, and this is my personal opinion. if you want to ask questions/start discussions in the comments, please do. thank you for reading this :)

Can someone explain the difference please? I’ve gotten all sorts of answers to that question. I identify as Bi but I’m also attracted to trans, NB, etc. folk too and have been told that that is just bisexual. I have also been told that pansexuality was a phrase invented because back in the 80s and 90s the bi community wasn’t very well understood or was less inclusive. Just finished 'Immediate tasks of the Soviet government'. While I more or less agree with Lenin's argument that the context required cohesive action to stop counter revolution, I am still confused by the following:He defends giving managers dictoral power, saying that they have to do it for coordination. However anarcho-syndicalism doesn't reject someone filling a coordinating role as long as they can be recalled. Anarcho-syndicalism also promoted the "democracy of the working people" and unity in the workplace, so it seems to fit the criteria for a working system set by Lenin.So why reject anarcho-syndicalism? A professor at my university claims that genocide was committed on the Kazakh nomads in the USSR ...

I'm not really surprised because I go to an unabashedly bourgeois and liberal university (for better or for worse I guess), but I realized that we have a professor who "specializes" in soviet history. Upon looking at his work I found some really anti-communist stuff, more specifically assertions that Stalin's "industrialization drive" resulted in the genocide of the Kazakh nomadic groups. The prof's bio states that he's currently researching the "Soviet state’s forced settlement of Kazakh nomads and the resulting chaos and near genocidal tragedy these policies engendered."Can I get some counter arguments to these assertions? It angers me how liberals will totally disassociate individual historical trends from their greater dialectic significance and then craft a totally invalid argument based on this ignorance.
